On May 2 and 3, 2024 in Paris, France, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov participated in a meeting of the Council of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on ‘Co-creating the Flow of Change: Leading the global discussion with an objective and credible approach to sustainable and inclusive growth’. The Bulgarian delegation to the Council is headed by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Dimitar Glavchev and also includes the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Bulgarian Ambassador to France and representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Council will discuss issues related to the promotion of free trade and investment to accelerate sound, rules-based economic growth and a free and fair international economic order. There will also be panels on sustainable and inclusive growth and approaches to global challenges such as artificial intelligence, security and free data transfer. The meeting also marks the 10th anniversary of the South East Asia Regional Programme (SEARP).
The successful completion of the talks on Bulgaria’s accession to the OECD will further boost the country’s path towards sustainable economic development. The Ministry of Economy and Industry is among the most involved institutions in the Bulgarian administration in the accession process, with a leading role in four technical reviews and a partner role in nine other OECD Thematic Committee reviews.
