Deputy Minister Pavlov: A key priority for us is building a competitive industry by promoting new technologies.

One of the main priorities of the Ministry of Economy and Industry is to develop a competitive industry by advancing new technologies, fostering innovation, and supporting high-tech companies. This goal cannot be reached without skilled personnel. Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, Nikolay Pavlov, said this at the annual closing ceremony of the Huawei Technologies Bulgaria 2024 scholarship program.

He announced that Bulgaria is becoming a key regional hub for fintech innovations, thanks to strong cooperation between the private sector, the government, and European institutions.

According to Deputy Minister Pavlov, Bulgarian engineers and programmers are known for their outstanding expertise in areas like software engineering, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity. They excel in collaborating with multinational teams and are highly sought after by global companies, like Huawei, that need quick and innovative solutions.

Nikolay Pavlov confirmed that the Ministry of Economy and Industry will keep supporting and encouraging all company initiatives in our country that help develop the younger generation and provide opportunities for specialized and high-quality training.

At the ceremony, the top 50 most motivated students and doctoral candidates from the country were honored. They took part this year in the company’s socially responsible program, which is dedicated to nurturing young talents in information technology and supporting their future growth.

Terry Li, CEO of Huawei Technologies Bulgaria; H.E. Dai Qingli, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China; Corresponding Member Professor Evdokia Pasheva, Deputy Chair of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Professor Miglena Temelkova, Chair of the Council of University Rectors attended the event, joined by representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science and rectors and professors from partner universities.
