Deputy Minister Pavlov and the Chair of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Discussed Deepening of Relations Between the Two Countries

The Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov and the Chair of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kamel Hamenni discussed the possibility of strengthening the economic relations between the two countries in various sectors.

During the meeting, the two discussed activation of cooperation in traditional spheres of interaction such as machine building, pharmacy, electrical engineering, food and processing industry, infrastructure projects, tourism and others.

“Algeria is our traditional and important economic partner in the region of North Africa. We attach great importance to the ties between the two countries and will continue to develop the bilateral trade-economic relations, by encouraging the conduct of more joint initiatives and business forums between the two countries,” Deputy Minister Nikolay Pavlov said during the meeting.

He emphasized that Bulgaria is an attractive place for investments and offers particularly good conditions for positioning companies in the industrial zones in our country. “Our country maintains its competitiveness despite the difficult times for Europe. We have broad opportunities to expand our economic ties,” the Deputy Minister of Economy stressed further.

During the talks, the Chair of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry emphasized the good cooperation from both sides to provide conditions and opportunities for more fruitful contacts for business representatives.

The possibilities to seek new sectors of cooperation, in which Bulgarian companies can partner with Algerian ones, were also discussed. Representatives of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at whose invitation Mr. Kamel Hamenni visited Bulgaria, also joined the meeting, which took place in the Ministry of Economy and Industry.

In the first six months of 2024, the trade exchange between the Republic of Bulgaria and the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria amounts to nearly USD 200 million.
