French investments in Bulgaria are over 1 billion euros
“Bulgaria has the potential to expand cooperation and increase French investments in the energy sector, mechanical engineering, construction of infrastructure facilities, food industry and others.” This was said by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov during the Bulgarian-French Business Forum in Sofia, which was attended by representatives of over 100 French companies interested in investing in Bulgaria.
At the event, Deputy Minister Pavlov pointed out that according to BNB data, foreign direct investment from France in Bulgaria as of 1 July 2023 amounted to EUR 1.1 billion. He added that France is among the leading foreign economic partners of our country. In the first six months of 2023, bilateral trade was worth 1.4 billion euros. France ranks 6th among our partners in terms of exports and 12th in terms of imports with 3.4% and 2.7% respectively.
During the meeting with the French business, Nikolay Pavlov emphasized the government’s goals, among which are preserving Bulgaria’s economic and financial stability and achieving high economic growth.
“The main priority for the Ministry of Economy and Industry is to improve the business environment in Bulgaria. This cannot be achieved without the support of foreign companies,” Deputy Minister Pavlov said. He presented the opportunities of the industrial parks and zones in the country, as well as the national policy to create favorable conditions for attracting investor interest.
The Bulgarian-French Business Forum was organized by the Bulgarian Industrial Association and Medef35 the largest French confederation that supports the entry of French businesses in foreign markets. The event was supported by the French Embassy in Bulgaria and the French-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. During their visit to Bulgaria the representatives of the French business visited our companies and got acquainted with their activities.
