German companies are one of the largest, reliable and long-term investors in Bulgaria. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Dr. David Sukalinski during the opening of the renovated Central Halls in Sofia.
The emblematic building in the centre of the capital was restored by the German grocery chain Kaufland, and the investment in the project is over BGN 50 million.
In his speech, the deputy economic minister underlined the excellent Bulgarian-German economic relations and pointed out that about 30% of the 100 largest investors in Bulgaria are German companies, with Kaufland being among the largest in the trade sector.
Dr. Sukalinski congratulated the German company for continuing to invest, to create new jobs in Bulgaria and to help Bulgarian producers to sell their products.
In his words, the expansion of investors’ activities in Bulgaria is a recognition of our country’s efforts to build a favourable business environment and attract quality investments.
The official opening was also attended by the Ambassador of Germany to Bulgaria H.E. Irene Plank, Deputy Ministers of Culture, Agriculture and Tourism, the Head of the EC Representation in Bulgaria Ms. Yordanka Chobanova, the Mayor of Sofia Mr. Vasil Terziev and representatives of the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the business community.
