Resources Will Be Allocated for the Expansion of the Stara Zagora Industrial Zone, He Announced
We are working towards genuine administrative reform – less bureaucracy, more electronic services, faster procedures and clear accountability to investors. Our objective is to build a modern economy in which the state supports business rather than acting as an obstacle to its development.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy, Investments and Industry Krasimir Yakimov, who took part in the “Socially Responsible Companies – Municipality Partner” Awards Ceremony for 2025, held in Stara Zagora.
He announced that a central coordination unit is currently being established within the Council of Ministers under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs. The unit will coordinate all strategic investment projects across the country. “In today’s economy, investments are directed towards locations where there is speed, certainty and effective institutions,” the Deputy Minister for Economy stated.
Yakimov emphasised that Stara Zagora occupies a key position in Bulgaria’s economic development and competitiveness. “The region is not only an important economic centre but also a strategic factor for the country’s energy security,” he added.
According to him, Stara Zagora and the wider region also have a significant role to play in Bulgaria’s industrial and energy transition. “It will serve as an example of how an energy-producing region can modernise without losing its industrial strength,” he said, noting that the region offers excellent opportunities for the development of industrial zones, logistics, innovation and high value-added manufacturing.
The Deputy Minister pointed out that Zagore Industrial Zone is a clear example of the area’s potential. “There will certainly be resources available for the expansion of the Zone, including the area around the airport. I am convinced that this will become a strong example of forthcoming and future high value-added investments that will create many new jobs,” he announced. “Stara Zagora has the potential to become not only a driving force behind Bulgaria’s industrial transformation but also a model for the entire Southeast European region,” the Deputy Minister concluded.
During the awards ceremony, organised by the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB), Krasimir Yakimov presented an award to Superabrasive Ltd. as a socially responsible company and partner of the Municipality of Kazanlak.
The event was attended by Vice President Iliana Iotova, Stara Zagora Mayor Zhivko Todorov, Regional Governor Kaloyan Damyanov, Deputy Minister of Energy Lyubomira Gancheva, and representatives of the local business community.
