Deputy Minister Yakimov: In the modern economy, capital goes where there is speed, security and functioning institutions

Accelerated procedures and clear deadlines, as well as real responsibility of the institutions towards investors, said the Deputy Minister in Ruse

We are actively working for deep administrative reform in favour of business and investment. Our goal is less regulation and more predictability, faster procedures and clear deadlines. Deputy Minister of Economy, Investment and Industry Krasimir Yakimov said, opening a Regional Business Conference in Ruse on Thursday.

According to the Deputy Minister of Economy, Bulgaria should become a country that creates conditions for production, investment, technology and industry with high added value. “A country that invests in infrastructure, personnel, innovation and modern production, which protects labour, but also promotes entrepreneurship,” Yakimov added.

He stressed that a strong economy is built through a partnership between the public and private sectors. “This is also the philosophy of our modern, progressive economic policy – an active state that unlocks the potential of business, not stifles it,” he said.

According to him, Bulgaria needs a new model of investment management, so a central coordination unit is being created, which will be under the direct supervision of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy. It will unify all institutions involved in the investment process, accelerate procedures, and improve inter-institutional coordination. “This is how personalized support will be provided to investors; there will be clear accountability, and it will be transparent who bears the responsibility if projects are delayed,” Yakimov added.

He was adamant that Ruse possesses all the prerequisites for the development of modern production and high-tech investments. “The new industrial zone is financed under the Recovery and Resilience Plan with over EUR 13 million. More than 350 contracts have been signed here with companies from the region under the various European business programs, and the companies have already received a resource of over EUR 40 million. Ruse Free Zone should also continue to develop actively – all this shows that the region is ready for the next step, “Yakimov said. “In the face of the state, you have a predictable partner who will invest in infrastructure, education and promoting entrepreneurship,” he stressed.

The conference, organized by Leader.BG, was attended by the Mayor of Ruse Municipality, the Executive Director of the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce, the Executive Director of the Ruse Chamber of Commerce and Industry, business and industry representatives. Focus was placed on topics related to investment, innovation, economic security and regional development.
