Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Ivaylo Shotev participated in the National celebration of the Miner’s Day. The event was attended by representatives of the local and executive authorities, business, employers’ and trade unions’ organisations and other relevant institutions.
At the invitation of the Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology (BMGK), Deputy Minister Shotev presented an award for innovation to one of the leading enterprises in the industry. The award went to ELLATZITE-MED AD for the implementation of an innovative unmanned aerial system for aerial photogrammetry in the mining complex. Ivaylo Shotev congratulated the company for the investments made and modern technologies implemented and for its contribution to the socio-economic development of the municipalities of Etropole and Sredna Gora region.
Deputy Minister Shotev congratulated all those working in the mining sector. In his words, the application of the best innovative European practices, with care for the environment, compliance with the requirements for safe working conditions and the implementation of social responsibility policies are the guarantee for the development of the sector.
The mineral industry accounts for 5% of the country’s GDP. The total net production value of the industrial enterprises in the extractive industries sector in 2022, according to preliminary estimates of the BMGK, is close to BGN 4.2 billion, reaching its highest level in the last ten years.
