Work is underway to attract high-tech investments in the country’s industrial zones, she pointed out
Our country has all the necessary conditions to establish itself as a technology hub and a leader in the region by attracting more and more strategic investors. This was stated by Nevena Lazarova, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, who participated in a round table on “Bulgaria and the Fifth Industrial Revolution. Opportunities to attract strategic investors to build artificial intelligence factories and data centres,” initiated by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The event was attended by representatives of state institutions, business leaders and experts in the field of artificial intelligence and digitalization. The importance of strategic efforts to create industrial zones to support the development of artificial intelligence and data centres in Bulgaria was emphasized.
Deputy Minister Lazarova stressed the importance of strategic efforts to attract high-tech investments into the country, in particular, the creation of industrial zones focused on artificial intelligence and data centres. “Artificial intelligence, as well as digitalization in general, represents an important economic driver that is changing the economic landscape and creating new opportunities for business,” the Deputy Minister noted.
She added that promoting investment in industrial zones is one of the main priority areas for the Ministry of Economy and Industry. “The opportunity to expand and modernize existing and new industrial zones, as well as to create new industrial clusters in strategically important regions of the country, is not only an opportunity to increase economic potential, but also to integrate Bulgaria into the global economy of the future,” said Nevena Lazarova.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of the trade and economic services in Bulgarian diplomatic missions, which are actively working to build networks with international investors and to promote Bulgarian industrial zones.
“The Ministry of Economy is actively working to attract investments in industrial zones by providing the necessary conditions for the effective implementation of projects. I believe that our goal to create sustainable economic growth, supported by innovation and investments in industrial zones, is entirely achievable,” Lazarova stressed.
According to her, in order to improve Bulgaria’s competitiveness, the National Industrial Zones Company will work to develop industrial parks in Northern Bulgaria and other regions that have traditionally had lower investment activity. “Particular attention is paid to the attractiveness of these zones for high-tech and innovative industries, such as artificial intelligence and industries related to digitalization and renewable energy,” she added.
