Deputy Minister Shotev: Investments in the first seven months amounted to over EUR 2 billion

“In order to meet the demands of investors, we continue to actively work on reforming policies related to vocational education, reducing the administrative burden and developing industrial zones.” This is what Ivaylo Shotev, Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry, said at a business forum “Why Bulgaria?”. In his words, more and more new companies are looking at Bulgaria as a potential investment destination and the positive trends are proof of that. According to the latest data, the net flow of direct investment in the country for January ­ July 2023, accounted for according to the principle of the original direction of investment, is positive in the amount of over EUR 2 billion (EUR 2,058.4 million), which is over 32.5% compared to that for January ­ July 2022.

The business forum is organized by BTL Industries Bulgaria, with the support of the Czech Embassy in Bulgaria, and is held on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the company. Deputy Minister Shotev underlined the good economic cooperation between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic. According to him, the trade between the two countries for the first six months of this year amounted to 1.124 billion euros, which is an increase of 15.4%. “There is a potential for intensifying cooperation and increasing the presence of Czech business in Bulgaria,” Deputy Minister Shotev said. He stated the readiness of the Ministry of Economy and Industry to support all companies willing to invest in Bulgaria in sectors providing high added value and increased competitiveness of the economy.

The event was dedicated to the opportunities and prospects for successful business and career development in the country. “You young people are the future of our country and I believe that you can successfully develop your potential and implement yourselves in Bulgaria,” Deputy Minister Shotev said.
