Sector: Printing and reproduction of recorded media (C18)

The sector printing and reproduction of recorded media covers about 1.6% of industrial production in the country and contributes about 1.9% of value added in industry.

The level of wages in the sector is one of the highest. The average monthly wage is estimated at about 1800 BGN and provides employment of 7.4 thousand people (1.5% of employees in manufacturing industry).

The index of industrial production and turnover of this sector in 2010 was deteriorated by 4 and 7.3 points, but there has been an increase in producer prices (2.9 percentage points compared to 2009).

The production process consists of printing newspapers and other publications, binding, prepress, reproduction of recorded media and others. The sector is performed by about 1200 companies, as half of them are located in South Central and South Western regions. Among the companies engaged in printing and reproduction of recorded media can be distinguished Bulgarian News Aagency, Economedia, IPK Rodina, Yuri Gagarin, Infopress Group Bulgaria, Payner, KumaksInvest, Call, River Press, etc.

In 2010 there was a decline in exports by 14.1%. Sector participation in foreign trade amounted to 0.003% of total exports and 0.04% of total imports of the country.

Staff providing in the sector is a result from the operation of a university and five secondary schools.
